About the Role
A high-growth, vertically integrated clean energy platform is seeking a seasoned Chief Operating Officer to lead and scale its operational execution across utility-scale solar. The ideal leader will combine deep technical understanding, hands-on construction experience, and strong business acumen to run full life-cycle solar operations and maximize performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day operations across EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction), Operations & Maintenance, and Asset Management functions.
- Serve as the operational bridge to the CEO, ensuring alignment across strategy, execution, and financial performance.
- Drive continuous improvement in construction deliveryschedule, cost, quality, safety, and risk management.
- Lead in-house construction and installation teams, subcontractor management, and QA / QC processes.
- Develop and implement scalable systems, processes, and governance across profit centers.
- Ensure performance optimization, preventative maintenance, data analytics, and lifecycle management across the solar asset fleet.
- Own P&L responsibility for the operations business units.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead technical and operational talent.
- Coordinate with development, finance, permitting, and stakeholder teams to de-risk projects and streamline project hand-offs.
- Embed a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Requirements
Must-Have Profile
Proven experience in utility-scale solar EPC & constructionleading projects in the 150 MW range (or larger).Hands-on understanding of construction operations, scheduling, site logistics, civil & electrical interfaces.Experience managing O&M and asset optimization across a portfolio.Track record leading multiple functional teams and driving operational scale.Ability to operate in a vertically integrated environmentowning both construction and long-term operations.Strong financial literacy and P&L management skills.Excellent communication skills, able to work with both technical and executive stakeholders.Willingness and ability to be onsite, with reporting into an office in Chapel Hill, NC.Benefits
Competitive base salary in the range of $400,000 $500,000, plus performance bonus and long-term incentive plans. At target, total compensation may approach ~$1.5M (depending on metrics).
