Position description
Specialist positions are occasionally available throughout the year in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, at the University of California, Irvine. These are typically grant-funded positions under the sponsorship of various faculty members. The ideal candidate should be self-driven and motivated, with research experience in a specialization is strongly preferred. Positions are depend upon extramural funding. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Appointments are based on performance and availability of funding.

Department :
Junior Specialists - A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialists - A Master’s degree (or equivalent degree), or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Associate Specialists - A Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Associate Specialists are normally expected to have a record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field and a demonstrated record of University and / or public service.
Specialists - A Doctoral degree (PhD / MD) (or equivalent degree) or ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Specialists at full rank are normally expected to have a significant record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field, professional recognition in the field, and a demonstrated record of University and / or public service.
