Job Description

Job Description : POSITION SUMMARY :

Responsible for inspecting and testing products at various stages of the weld process to ensure that products fulfill customer specifications and quality requirements. The inspector position requires constant floor inspection / documentation of TIG welding to AWS D17.1.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

    \n

  • Responsible for inspecting the quality and conformance of products used in the manufacture of heat transfer products (i.e. heat sinks, radiators, heat pipes, extrusions) at various stages of the production process to ensure the product meets the specifications of the blueprint and / or job order.

    • \n

  • Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, and / or standards to confirm product requirements. Compare product to requirements and ensure completion of operation or assembly.

    • \n

  • Identify product imperfections and damage. Perform minor cosmetic repairs on product as required.

    • \n

  • Inspection of in-process welding

    • \n

  • Inspection of final welds

    • \n

  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability

    • \n

  • Perform weld surveillance audits that include the verification of compliance to specified weld procedures including any preheat, interpass temperature control and post heat requirements.

    • \n

  • Inspection and Test Plans : Assistance and agreement with the preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's)

    • \n

  • Post-weld visual inspection : Visual inspection of completed weldment against specification requirements and drawings.

    • \n

  • Provide training and coaching to welders as necessary

    • \n

  • Ensure work area is kept clean and always organized.

    • \n

  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with company policies and procedures

    • \n

  • Be an advocate for safety. Insist on safe practices throughout the inspection areas

    • \n

  • Work to maintain the integrity of Boyd's Quality Systems

    • \n

  • All other duties as assigned

    • \n \n

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

    \n

  • Minimum 5-Years welding experience

    • \n

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

    • \n

  • Ability to keep precise records and pay close attention to details

    • \n

  • Computer skills required (i.e Microsoft Word and Excel, Email)

    • \n

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions.

    • \n

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and / or correspondence.

    • \n

  • Strong mathematical skills required, including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

    • \n

  • Ability to work in a team fostered environment.

    • \n

  • ISO9001 / AS9100 internal auditing experience a plus

    • \n \n

    QUALIFICATIONS : \n

  • All applicants must hold AWS certifications

    • \n

  • High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent in relevant work experience. 2-year degree preferred

    • \n

  • Proficient in accurate use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools

    • \n \n
