Position Overview
The Tax Manager will play a key leadership role within the firm's tax department, overseeing complex tax engagements, managing client relationships, and guiding a team of professionals. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts
- Conduct detailed tax research and provide strategic recommendations to clients
- Identify and implement proactive tax-saving strategies
- Oversee estimated tax payments, projections, and extensions
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing responsive, high-quality service
- Mentor, train, and review the work of junior staff and seniors
- Stay current with changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends
- Participate in client meetings and tax planning discussions
- Manage client engagements from start to finish, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Collaborate across departments to deliver integrated financial services
- Prepare or review tax provision calculations and financial statement disclosures
- Respond to IRS and state taxing authority inquiries
- Contribute to quality control initiatives and continuous process improvement
- Participate in networking and business development opportunities
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldActive CPA license requiredMinimum of 5 years of public accounting experience with a strong focus on tax preparation, planning, and reviewProficiency in tax softwareStrong technical knowledge of federal and state tax lawsProven leadership and mentoring experienceAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax research tools
