Position Summary

This position is responsible for applying codes in the EHR for all inpatient type accounts.Code assignment is based on ICD-10-CM and PCS coding guidelines.Ensure Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) data elements are accurate.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Meeting quality standards for ICD-10-CM / PCS code assignment.

Codes from only compliant documentation.

Achieves optimal MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment.

Maintains productivity standards to ensure A / R Day goals are met / exceeded.

Follows company policies, procedures, and directives.

Maintains required coding credentials.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications / Work Experience :

Five years acute care hospital coding experience required.

Successful completion of an accredited coding program.

Education / Licensure / Certification :

At least one of the following credentials is required. AHIMA : CCS, RHIT, RHIA or AAPC : CIC
