Job Description
Essential Roles and Responsibilities :
- A Geotechnical Field Engineer collects and analyzes samples of soil, rock, and other earth materials to determine variations in different landscapes.
- Under close supervision by staff professionals, assists on tasks and perform basic testing and observation / documentation duties.
- Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
- Communicate information to Project Manager and discusses accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
- Submits documentation and communicates results as directed by the staff professionals.
- Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Maintains assigned equipment.
- Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
- Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.
- Report safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Performs fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation, under specific work instructions as provided by the Project Manager.
- The fieldwork will include logging of geotechnical sampling of soil and rock.
- The field work will also include observation of pile installation and pile load testing.
- The applicant must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office computer programs.
- Previous experience in outdoor / field working / driving conditions is preferred, not required.
- Previous experience in Geotechnical drilling / sampling preferred, not required.
- The applicant must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Perform other tasks / activities as required.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.Preferred Certification :
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) designation
