This position is on-site at our corporate office in Marion, IN

Director of Construction

The Director of Construction will be responsible for overseeing the construction-specific planning, execution, and delivery of projects with efficiency and client satisfaction. This role will work closely with the Director of Operations and report to the Vice President of Construction and Business Operations.

Primary Duties :

  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers and staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources while working with the Director of Operations for crew staffing, equipment utilization, material deliveries, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Maintaining comprehensive project documentation to ensure all projects adhere to framework conditions and documentation requirements.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Performing risk management assessments to minimize project risks.
  • Exercise discretion to plan and modify project schedules in response to field conditions, aligning with client and company goals
  • Establishing and managing a detailed project budget to track expenditures and ensure financial accountability.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques
  • Manage and lead actions during delays, adverse weather, or emergencies at construction sites
  • Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, supervisory staff, contractors, and engineering professionals to discuss and resolve project-related matters
  • Supervise overall project construction field correspondence, working with the Director of Operations to ensure proper compensation for all completed work in accordance with the contract
  • Provide oversight and guidance in the preparation of conceptual and detailed cost estimates

Compliance & Safety :

  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety within the Construction Department.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Qualifications :

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding teams to complete projects within schedule, budget guidelines, and customer requirements
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage conflicts between different project members and staff
  • Detailed knowledge of all aspects of commercial electrical construction, including underground and splicing
  • Excellent negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong familiarity with construction and project management software tools
  • Ability to make informed and prompt decisions, working efficiently under pressure and handling unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Remaining flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to document complex processes with input from multiple parties
  • Deep understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
  • Possess a growth mindset, strong work ethic, pleasant attitude
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.

    Experience : 10 years’ experience with commercial electrical projects or related projects required.

    Licenses, Certifications or Registrations : Employee must have a valid driver’s license if operating a company vehicle or their own vehicle for work purposes. Professional certifications, such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP), are highly favorable.

    Physical Requirements :

  • Must be traverse and able to access all areas of the jobsite
  • Must be able to travel to jobsites in multiple states
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
