Optus Bank is seeking a passionate, mission-aligned Community Development Officer to lead strategic engagement and development initiatives aligned with the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) objectives. This role will drive measurable community impact, establish strong nonprofit and civic partnerships, and generate banking referrals as part of our broader economic justice strategy.
The ideal candidate will engage with community leaders and organizations to build trust and visibility for the Bank while also identifying opportunities for financial education, lending, and deposit growth. The successful candidate will also meet defined referral goals for both consumer and commercial banking through values-based relationship building.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Community Engagement Strategy : Develop and execute strategies that promote economic inclusion, with a focus on low-to-moderate income (LMI) communities and underserved groups.
- Lead Outreach & Partnerships : Build strategic alliances with nonprofit organizations, churches, government entities, small business ecosystems, and housing providers.
- Program Development : Plan and host community-focused workshops, resource fairs, and financial wellness events, ensuring alignment with CRA and CDFI goals.
- CRA Performance Support : Assist with data collection, reporting, and preparation for CRA exams. Maintain strong documentation for community impact reporting.
- Referral Generation : Proactively generate banking referrals—consumer (e.g., checking, savings, credit builder loans) and commercial (e.g., microloans, small business accounts)—based on community interactions.
- Public Visibility : Represent the Bank at community events, speaking engagements, and advocacy opportunities to enhance brand reputation and mission alignment.
Qualifications :
Proven experience in community development, nonprofit partnerships, sales, banking, or CRA-related rolesStrong understanding of CRA and CDFI programsExcellent relationship-building, communication, and public speaking skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively across departments.Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent community-based work experiencePerformance Expectations :
