About the Position :
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
This role is primary responsible for system to systems data communications for the Development and External Affairs (DEA) team at SMU. This position is part of the Advancement Application and Technology Services group, which includes developer, support, and administrator for DEAs Fundraising tools. This role will build, trouble shoot, and enhance future and existing ETL, SSIS packages, and APIs, create new ETL and APIs, as well as, implement 3rd party APIs as needed.
Essential Functions :
The position requires occasional evening and / or weekend work and occasional travel.
Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in Computer Science, Technology, or Engineering, desired.
A minimum of seven years of full-time software development work experience and at least three years working with ETL's and API's is required.
Experience in higher education and fundraising systems is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills. A strong focus on attention to detail and strong project management skills are essential.
Candidate must have the ability to use and understand large dataset. Must also be able to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
Candidate must have experience with CRM, API, and data warehouse. Experience with Blackbaud CRM or Salesforce is preferred. Experience writing APIs with C# and / or .NET is desired. Experience writing ETL using MS SQL is a plus.
Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite. Experience with SOSQL and Apex is preferred. Experience with Microsoft SQL queries and optimization is desired. Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio is a plus.
