HVAC Material Takeoff Specialist & Design Planner Location :
- Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex area (Office located in Dallas, TX) Employment Type : Full-Time (Focus on Residential projects with potential expansion into Commercial) Job Summary The HVAC Material Takeoff Specialist & Design Planner is a crucial technical role primarily responsible for accurate quantification of materials and components for residential HVAC installations.
- This individual will utilize expertise in Wrightsoft software to interpret architectural plans, generate precise material lists, and actively collaborate with the existing design team to improve the quality of both design outputs and operational manuals.
- The specialist provides essential data to the estimating and procurement departments, driving efficiency and standardization.
Key Responsibilities Material Takeoffs (Primary Focus) :
Conduct precise quantity takeoffs for all materials and component parts needed for installations (e.g., ductwork components, sheet metal, piping, vents, accessories, controls).Utilize outputs directly from Wrightsoft software to create detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).Design Planning & Quality Improvement :
Review and analyze current HVAC designs and operational manuals.Collaborate with the design team to identify areas for enhancement, ensuring designs are robust, standardized, and easily executable in the field, aligning with DFW building codes.Process Improvement Collaboration :
Work collaboratively with the design team to analyze current material takeoff workflows and implement improved standards, templates, and best practices within the software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Procurement Support :
Collaborate closely with the purchasing department, providing clear, accurate BOMs to facilitate timely and cost-effective material ordering from DFW-area suppliers and vendors.HVAC System Knowledge Application :
Apply knowledge of HVAC principles, including load calculations (ACCA Manual J, S, D standards), to ensure material takeoffs align with functional system designs.Quality Assurance :
Conduct rigorous quality control checks on material lists, design plans, and supporting documentation before data is transferred to the estimating department.Technical Communication :
Communicate effectively with designers, field crews, and management regarding material specifications, design standards, and planning requirements.Required Qualifications and Skills Experience :
A minimum of 3+ years of experience focused heavily on material takeoffs or material planning within the residential construction or HVAC industry.Software Proficiency :
High proficiency and demonstrated expertise in using Wrightsoft software for design, load calculations, duct layouts, and material takeoffs is mandatory.Technical Knowledge :
Strong understanding of residential HVAC systems, materials, component parts, and standard installation practices.ACCA Knowledge :
Familiarity with ACCA Manual J, Manual S, and Manual D standards to understand design basis for takeoffs.Analytical Skills :
Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in material quantification.Collaboration & Communication :
Excellent ability to collaborate with a team, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively to drive quality improvements.Location :
