Tyler Houk (Practice Director) is looking for an experienced Controller to lead financial operations and ensure robust financial practices within our organization. Based in Fresno, California, this role is critical for maintaining financial integrity, managing risks, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting, financial management, and internal controls, with a strong preference for experience in the agriculture or construction industries.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring accurate preparation of financial statements, profit and loss reports, and balance sheets.
- Monitor compliance with financial standards across accounting, purchasing, retail, and field operations while adhering to statutory reporting requirements.
- Evaluate and enhance internal accounting controls to ensure effective financial management across all operations.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, providing timely and accurate variance analyses against forecasts and historical data.
- Lead and mentor the finance and administrative team, ensuring staff receive proper training and support to meet organizational goals.
- Reconcile and analyze complex accounts, providing guidance on alternative accounting treatments and the effects of financial transactions.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, ensuring timely completion of audits and implementing controls to prevent financial discrepancies.
- Serve as a technical resource for resolving complex financial issues and provide strategic financial insights.
- Support and drive process improvement initiatives, including system upgrades and profitability enhancements.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; advanced certifications such as CPA or CMA are strongly preferred.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a background in agriculture, construction, or related industries highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis with the ability to develop and implement financial strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including team management, training, and development.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to financial decision-making.
- Proficiency in financial software tools and systems, with experience in ERP systems preferred.
- High level of integrity, dependability, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
