Position Summary
With considerable latitude for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, the Telecommunications Voice Support position will be responsible for providing telecommunications support through service repairs, ordering, tracking, and inventory management. Performs related work.

Key Relationships :
Works with Central offices, schools, telephone carriers, and vendors in providing maintenance and voice communication support.
Responsibilities
Monitors requests, tracks voice and data circuit installations and inventory, disconnects, upgrades, and moving telecommunication hardware.
Works with telephone carriers and vendors to resolve voice and data circuit installation and repair issues and long-distance concerns.
Provides support to field project managers and vendors on all aspects of the Private Branch Exchange (PBX) equipment, including new installations, replacements, and upgrades.
Supports vendors and project managers in the areas of voice and data communications within schools and administrative offices.
Performs complex data telecommunications operations.
Serves as a technical resource in the planning, selecting, and operating data telecommunications services, systems, and equipment.
Qualification Requirements
Minimum
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in voice telecommunications (telephone, radio, microwave, fiber optic and cellular service) telecommunications technology, electronics, physics, and / or planning and analysis of electronic systems, and one year of satisfactory full‑time experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, and / or administrative duties in a voice telecommunications or closely‑related electronics planning, electronics management, and / or electronics service environment; or
An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in voice telecommunications (telephone, radio, microwave, fiber optic and cellular service), telecommunications technology, electronics, physics, and / or planning and analysis of electronic systems, and two years of the experience described in 1 above; or
A four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and three years of the experience described in 1 above; or
A satisfactory combination of education and / or experience equivalent to 1, 2 or 3 above. College education not used for meeting the minimum requirements in 1 or 2 above may be substituted for experience on the basis of each 30 semester credits of undergraduate college education, including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in voice telecommunications (telephone, radio, microwave, fiber optic and cellular service), telecommunications technology, electronics, physics, and / or planning and analysis of electronic systems for six months of experience described in 1 above, up to a maximum of two years experience.
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, individuals must have two additional years of the experience described in 1 above.
Preferred
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
Ability to prioritize and manage workload.
Strong PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to interface with other departments and work well in a team environment.
Salary
$57,990 - $75,000 (Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
