Major Duties and Responsibilities :
Uphold SmartBank Core Values & Core PurposeAdheres to and embraces the SmartBank Way by Acting Smart, Looking Smart and Being Smart.Review, analyze, and interpret personal tax returns, W-2s, paystubs, bank statements, account statements and other financial documents to determine accurate qualifying income.Assess overall creditworthiness by calculating debt-to-income ratios, evaluating repayment ability, and identifying any risk factors.Underwrite consumer loan requests in accordance with internal product guidelines and loan policy.Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation B, FCRA, ECOA, HMDA and other relevant guidance.Document underwriting decisions clearly and thoroughly while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency.Work jointly with loan officers and all other bank staff across the geographic footprint to gather needed documentation and provide timely credit decisions.Contribute to continual process improvement by identifying opportunities for efficiency, quality, and risk mitigation.Works with SmartBank's compliance personnel to ensure proper documentation of consumer loan decisions.Compile reports regarding finance and credit data.Performs other duties as assigned.Position Requirements and Qualifications :
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in related field such as business or financeTwo or more years of consumer loan underwriting experience preferredTraining Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates) :

Must be capable of handling confidential information in a trustworthy manner.Excellent customer service skills.Detail oriented and ability to function in a team environmentMust be able to prioritize and organize daily workflow.Ability to apply knowledge and sound judgment in decision-making using established guidelines.Strong written and oral communication skills.Proficient level of computer competency including Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook), and typing.Experience with nCino platform preferred.Demonstrates ability to maintain a positive attitude.High level of integrity.Able to maintain regular and predictable attendance.Willing to accept new ideas and methods and be agreeable to changeWork Conditions :
