Operator I

Position Purpose :

The Operator I maintains water / wastewater treatment processing disposal and testing equipment in water / wastewater treatment facilities to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements. The position requires the ability to accept supervisory feedback including constructive criticism without dispute and to consistently apply that feedback to improve performance. A willingness to perform both complex technical tasks and routine repetitive duties with equal professionalism is expected.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities :

• Monitor operating conditions meters and gauges.
• Collect and test water and sewage samples.
• Record meter and gauge readings and operational data.
• Operate equipment to purify and clarify water or to process or dispose of waste.
• Clean and maintain equipment tanks filter beds and other work areas- including cleaning and housekeeping assignments as essential and non-optional functions.
• Inspect all equipment on a regular basis.
• Follow U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
• Ensure safety standards are met.
• Receive and respond to supervisory direction performance evaluations and corrective criticism promptly and professionally applying required changes.
