Director^ Registered Nurse

The Director of Hospital Nursing Services is accountable for nursing practice in hospital departments that employ nurses : Emergency Department, hospital inpatient nursing units, and respiratory care services. Directs the hospital's nursing services. Establishes guidelines for the delivery of nursing care, treatment and services. Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety, performance improvement, and well-being of all patients throughout the organization. Accountable for ongoing professional development of nursing management team, nursing staff (including orientation, ongoing education and competency), and retention of personnel. Accountable for compliance with all regulations that impact delivery of nursing care (i.e.CMS, Missouri Department of Health, The Joint Commission). Directs the implementation of nursing policies and procedures, nursing standards of practice and the nurse staffing effectiveness plan within the hospital. Participates in development of annual department budgets and accountable to meet or exceed same. Makes recommendations for enhancements to or development of programs and services in order to meet the needs of the patient population served. In the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is able to provide leadership / assistance to other clinical departments. Assumes administrative call on a rotating basis. Maintains open communication with all staff in an organized, professional manner. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities. Incorporates HURON principles into daily activities. Demonstrates behaviors that are consistent with mission and objectives of CMH, possesses excellent communication, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills; performs other duties as requested in association with and under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.
