Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a NJ or compact RN license and recent acute care experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with medical / surgical overflow and telemetry / IMC level of carePatient ratios are 1 : 4 for stepdown and 1 : 5 for medical-surgical / telemetryDay shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts from 7 : 00 to 19 : 30Every other weekend and holiday coverage requiredPatients include acute care inpatients requiring telemetry monitoring, antiarrhythmic drips without titration, and complex medical / surgical careUse of Epic for charting is requiredFloating within skillset to other units when the home unit does not need coverageLocals are accepted at the same rateResponsible for NIHSS assessments, telemetry monitoring, and medical / surgical nursing care in a high-acuity environmentMust be able to manage antiarrhythmic and vasoactive drips without titrationExpected to provide care for patients with a broad range of acute needs including cardiac and neuroRNs who worked at the health system must have been gone for at least one year to be eligibleFirst time travelers will be considered for this positionMust be available for half of the winter holidays (Friday / Saturday holidays)No block scheduling permittedRequirements
Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of considerationCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of acute care RN experience requiredAt least 1 year of recent PCU experience requiredAbility to interpret cardiac rhythms and perform NIHSS assessmentsExperience managing CVAs, feeding tube care and management, accessing ports / central / PICC / peripheral lines, starting IVs, wound care and wound vacs, and caring for cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required)Experience with Epic charting system preferredBenefits
