Essential Functions

  • Lead various disciplines in the completion of technically complex structural repairs and refurbishment projects.
  • Responsible for design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) projects.
  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and develop steps for their proper execution
  • Calculate the loads and stresses acting on ALTAIR Antenna and other structures on Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Prepare reports, designs and drawings.
  • Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately.
  • Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.
  • Analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure.
  • Maintain the project schedule and budget.
  • Monitor and inspect all work undertaken to ensure structural soundness
  • Provide operations and maintenance support for radar hardware systems.
  • Apply advanced technical principles, techniques, theories and concepts that will help solve sometimes unusual complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials and legal regulations.
  • Sound understanding of physics and mathematics.
  • Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines.
  • Three-dimensional conceptual skills.
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communications skills are required including the ability to interface directly with external customers.
  • Proficient using Windows Office Suit and MS Project.
  • Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Five or more years of related experience.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience with using Visio, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and MATLAB
  • Weapons test range systems O&M experience is desirable.
  • Professional Engineer license, preferred.
  • Certifications in Non-Destructive Testing methods such as Ultrasonic Testing, Die Penetrant, and Mag Particle are preferred.
  • Certifications in Corrosion Prevention and Control are preferred.
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Willingness and physical ability to work at heights up to feet.
  • Willingness and physical ability to carry equipment weighing 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
