POSITION TITLE : Part Time Case Manager Volunteer
LOCATION : 125 E 300 S. Provo, UT 84606
Time Commitment :
Minimum of 4 hours per week on weekdays
(Preference given to candidates available during regular business hours)
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
As Refugee Case Manager at UVR, you will be responsible for providing support, information, and practical assistance on a range of issues to people referred to our organization. The case manager is responsible for ensuring client-centered services are tailored to the needs of the eligible population and that the services contribute to self-sufficiency. Case Managers work face-to-face with clients in the UVR office.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help refugees find a house and jobs, arrange medical appointments and help children or youth with their homework.
- Arrange language interpretation and rides for refugee clients.
- Help refugees with Medicaid, food stamps and other public assistance.
- Determine client eligibility using predetermined UVR criteria.
- Provide case management services, including screening, assessment, education, case plan development and follow up services for project-eligible clients.
- Assist clients in resolving daily challenges arising from American cultural norms and English language deficiencies.
- Collaborate with multiple agencies (specifically refugee community agencies) serving refugee clients.
- Document client-centered activities and maintain client files.
- Maintain updated knowledge of current and available program and community resources
- Assist with distribution of in-kind donations to eligible clients.
- Answer phone calls and represent UVR professionally.
- Actively participate in UVR team building exercises and staff meetings ; Case Management staff meetings and trainings are currently held in person.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
A Bachelor’s degree in a human service field (social work, sociology, family sciences, public health etc.) or three or more years of case management experience. Experience in refugee related casework and community services is preferred.Must be able to ascend stairs.Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to speak a second language is preferred (Swahili, Spanish, French, Arabic, Dari ect...).Ability to document client interactions.Demonstrated computer skills.Experience and ability to work with diverse groups of people.ABOUT UVR :
