UI Lead Trading Systems
A global hedge fund is seeking a UI Lead to head up its front-end development efforts for trading systems. The firm is known for its strong culture of collaboration, high-performance technology, and systematic approach to liquidity provision across global markets. As the UI Lead, you will manage a team of engineers focused on building responsive, high-performance user interfaces used by traders and quantitative researchers. These tools are central to monitoring live trading, managing risk, and gaining insights from complex market data in real-time.
You'll have the opportunity to shape the front-end technology stack, lead architecture decisions, and work closely with global trading and quant teams to define and deliver mission-critical UI platforms.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of UI developers working across web and desktop application technologies.
- Collaborate with traders, researchers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into intuitive and performant UIs.
- Own the design and execution of front-end architecture across trading and risk applications.
- Deliver real-time, data-intensive interfaces that enhance trader decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, architecture planning, testing practices, and continuous improvement.
- Drive UX innovation and data visualization capabilities, enabling deeper insights into market conditions and trading strategy behaviour.
- Ensure Agile best practices are followed, with timely delivery of reliable, scalable software.
Key Requirements :
Proven experience leading UI or full-stack engineering teams within high-performance or real-time domains (preferably finance, trading, or related fields).Expertise in JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or similar), and solid backend understanding (Java is a plus).Experience designing and delivering performant and scalable desktop and / or web applications in production environments.Familiarity with data visualization librariesExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with global, cross-functional teams including traders, quants, and platform engineers.Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced trading environment, balancing short-term tactical needs with long-term architectural goals.This is a unique opportunity to lead a key engineering function within a globally respected hedge fund, building products that sit at the core of the firm's trading operations.
