WHIN is currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable after-school instructor who is ready to help grow our unique school community where compassion, kindness, and curiosity drive each and every day.
Specifically, the after-school instructor is responsible for :
Planning and delivering age-appropriate Robotics lessons for mixed-age groups (grades K-5)Creating and maintaining a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment where all students feel welcome and supportedAdapting activities and instruction to accommodate different skill levels and learning stylesSupervising and ensuring the safety of all students during program activitiesImplementing positive behavior management strategies consistent with school policiesPreparing lesson plans and activity materials in advanceMaintaining accurate attendance records and basic progress notesCommunicating regularly with the Director of After-School regarding student progress and concernsMaintaining professional relationships with school staff, parents, and administrationFollowing all safety protocols and emergency proceduresSetting up and cleaning up the activity space before and after each sessionParticipating in staff meetings and professional development as requiredCollaborating with other after-school staff to ensure program cohesionMaintaining an inventory of supplies and equipmentFollowing all program policies and proceduresQualifications for the after-school instructor are :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and / or Education, or related areaPrevious experience working with children ages 5-11 requiredExperience in Robotics and Legos is strongly preferredStrong communication and interpersonal skillsProven ability to effectively manage groups of 15–20 elementary-aged studentsStrong creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic settingsPhysical capability to actively participate in and supervise high-energy activitiesPatience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with childrenSuccessful completion of background check and fingerprinting requirementsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, and evolving school environmentA positive attitude, sense of humor, and collaborative spirit with colleaguesAdvanced proficiency in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred :
Bilingual capabilities (especially Spanish)Previous teaching, tutoring, or instructional experienceExperience with diverse student populationsAdditional certifications relevant to Robotics and / or EngineeringExperience with classroom management and positive discipline techniquesCurrent CPR / First Aid certificationYouth program, camp, or educational setting experienceCompensation and Benefits :
Compensation / Benefits : WHIN Music Community Charter School offers a competitive hourly wage, a fun and professional working environment, as well as ongoing PD opportunities. Hourly Wage : $32.00-$44.00 depending on years of experience, certifications, and content specialization
Position Type : Part-time, Temporary / Contract
Schedule : Monday-Thursday, 4-6pm and Fridays, 2-6pm
Duration : September 22, 2025 - June 18, 2026
