Portsmouth, VA 23704 . 757-397-3411Direct Care Aide : CNA, PCA, DCA, NAPosition Summary : Provide personal care services, assistance, and support to resident while upholding service standards, philosophy, and mission.Position Responsibilities - ServiceFollowing the guidelines as outlined in the resident care plan (ISP), assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, eating, hygiene, and mobilityMonitor the health, safety and well being of all residents, maintaining a daily communication log; document information pertaining to changes in residents' functional status and personal needsCleaning and trimming finger and toe nailsWash, Dry, Fold / Match resident laundryStrip and make bedsAssist in serving meals and bussing tablesParticipate in and attend all required in-services training sessionsAnswer business phonesTour inquiring individualsClean up urine , bowel movements, or blood when housekeeping is unavailableAnswering call bells and respond to alarmsAll other duties assignedTeam Effort : Assist in the development and updating of each resident care plan (ISP)Assist in ensuring compliance with State and Local RegulationsChaperone activities outside the facility as neededAssisting other Aide with resident care needsAction : Identify resident issues and communicate them to the Administrator and the resident's physicianKeep the environment safe for residentsProvide one-on-one support / visitation to assigned residentsRespond to resident emergencies; provide first-aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention and follow-upPractice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensils No horse playing or agitating resident Reputation : Maintain professional relationships with all employees - no arguingMaintain good hygiene and a professional appearanceSuccess : Contribute to resident satisfaction by ensuring that customer's expectations are met or exceededMaintain efficient and appropriate communication with residents, family members and guestContribute to marketing efforts through appropriate interaction with prospective resident and guestEssential skills, experience and abilities : Ability to organize and manage multiple prioritiesStrong customer orientation to older adultsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPositive attitude, enthusiasm and energyAbility to read , write, and comprehendMeet the licensing requirements of CN.A or DCA certification or be enrolled in a class for certificationJob Title : Direct Care Aide Nonessential skills and experience : Previous experience as a direct care aidHigh school diploma or equivalent certificateReporting to the position : No direct reportsDress Code : Nursing Uniforms / Scrub type clothingTennis, Nursing, or Croc type shoes need to be slip resistance. The employee must be free of diseases that can be transmitted in the performance of job responsibilities during the stage of communicability. The employee must use proper body mechanics to assist resident in their daily living. Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to minimal to moderate noise. The employee will be exposed to blood and / or body fluids. The employee may encounter traumatic situations, such as having to care for mentally ill resident and contact the deceased residents.
