Bridge Design Engineer

Job Title : Bridge Design Engineer Location : Canonsburg, PA Type : Direct Hire Compensation : up to $98000 annually Contractor Work Model : Hybrid Bridge Design Engineer Objective Advance engineering expertise through leading bridge infrastructure design and transportation engineering projects. This position targets experienced civil or structural engineering professionals with 5-10 years of experience seeking expanded responsibility in bridge design and structural analysis. The role offers increased project leadership opportunities on infrastructure projects that enhance community safety, sustainability, and connectivity while providing continued professional development and mentorship toward or beyond PE licensure achievement. Responsibilities Lead bridge design engineering initiatives including structural load rating calculations, comprehensive structural analysis, and foundation system design Create detailed design drawings, construction documentation, technical specifications, and project cost estimations for bridge and transportation infrastructure Oversee comprehensive documentation of bridge design files, technical reports, and project budget management Provide advanced project management support through schedule coordination, documentation preparation, and presentation development Ensure design compliance with state and local regulatory standards, building codes, and safety requirements Lead and implement quality assurance / quality control protocols to guarantee deliverable accuracy and completeness Execute field inspection activities and generate comprehensive bridge condition assessment reports with foundation analysis Provide advanced technical assistance during construction phases, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and lead site visits Coordinate with internal project teams, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies for integrated project execution Requirements Essential Qualifications : Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline 5-10 years of transportation engineering experience Proficiency in MicroStation software Advanced experience with STAAD structural analysis software Expertise in bridge design software applications Advanced analytical thinking and complex engineering problem-solving capabilities Project leadership and effective task prioritization abilities Adaptability in meeting project deliverables and deadline requirements Construction phase support and advanced technical assistance experience Preferred Qualifications : Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field Structures / bridge design engineering experience Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure Familiarity with state DOT design standards (NYSDOT or PennDOT) Advanced field inspection and bridge condition assessment experience Leadership experience in construction document preparation and project coordination System One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé, ALTA IT Services, and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
