Liability Analyst
The Liability Analyst reports to the Liability Manager and is responsible for managing and optimizing a portfolio of general and auto liability claims to reduce costs and improve outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, outside defense counsel, and Family Dollar's Third-Party Administrator (TPA), playing a crucial role in overseeing claims from investigation through resolution.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist Manager and Director in the oversight of general liability, auto liability and other claims to reduce costs and improve outcomes.
- Support the TPA claims examiners and defense counsel in the management and resolution of general liability and auto liability claims.
- Assist defense firms with responses to written discoveries and the collection of documents responsive to requests for production.
- Assist in the management of litigation budgets, evaluating the adequacy of case reserves and advising on adjustments where necessary.
- Provide approval authority to TPA representatives for settlement of cases and approve increases in case reserves up to assigned authority levels.
- Review and manage investigations and discovery required to defend cases and for mediation / trial.
- Attend claim mediations and arbitrations as required.
- Assist with subrogation and recovery processes.
- Assist with the coordination and preservation of data for legal holds associated with claims, litigation and investigations.
- Stay current with key changes in the retail claims and litigation environment.
- Special projects assigned by Manager or Director of Claims.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications :
2-5 years of multi-state commercial general liability (complex, litigated cases) experience with law firm, insurance carrier, third party administrator or insurance broker.Strong analytical skills related to investigations, claims strategies and claim reviews.Excellent written and verbal communications skills; ability to handle difficult situations.Pro-active and collaborative mindset with an ability to work in fast paced team environment, handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.Knowledge of medical terminology, medical treatment protocols, and legal proceedings.Desired Qualifications :
Professional Insurance Designation SCLA, ARM, CPCU, etc.Experience working in a corporate risk management department.Retail experience.Risk management experience, background and / or education.Intermediate technology skills related to Excel, queries, and insurance company risk management information systems.Full time
