Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery / Postpartum (LDRP) position requiring strong L&D, postpartum, and newborn care skills with the ability to float within a network.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute hospital LDRP unit with 14 LDRP beds, 2 OR suites for C-Sections, and 4 triage bedsAssigned to night shifts, 7p-7a, with weekends as neededFloating required to multiple sites within the system based on L&D, Postpartum, or Antepartum skill set, or as a sitterPatient population includes laboring mothers, newborns, and postpartum couplets, typically 32 weeks gestation or greaterTypical patient ratios follow AWHONN staffing standards : 1 : 1 for labor, 1 : 3 for postpartum couplets, 1 : 3 for triageUse of Epic EMR and Centricity EFM systemUnit commonly manages patients with magnesium protocols, Pitocin infusions, and occasional insulin dripsNo call or standby requiredAssigned responsibilities include stabilization, physical assessment, and newborn care during first hours after deliveryWork with support from resource RNs, triage nurses, OB hospitalists, and neonatal nurse practitioners, all present 24 / 7Unit is supported by surgical techs (CST) and CNAs, with coverage varying per shiftOrientation includes four unit-specific shifts covering C-Section, labor, and postpartum careHospital-issued scrubs required and must be changed into on site at the beginning and end of each shiftNo block scheduling or special scheduling requests allowed; schedules are filled based on unit needsFirst time travelers are welcome to applyNo acrylic or gel nails permitted due to NICU integration within LDRP roomsTravel pairs must each have access to a vehicle, as floating to different sites may be requiredPossible need to work holidays based on staffing needsRequirements
Active ID or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 3 years L&D experience and 1 year of mother baby experience preferredCurrent ACLS, BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications requiredExperience attending deliveries, providing newborn care, triage, circulating and recovering C-Sections, and postpartum couplet careProficiency in titrating drips such as magnesium and PitocinExperience in using Epic for documentationMust provide two professional references including a supervisor reference from the past 12 months and another from the last 3 yearsDriver's license required for considerationMust live outside of a 50-mile radius from the facilityPermanent staff must be separated for one year before applying for a travel assignmentBenefits
