ALS United Greater New York’s mission is to support and empower the ALS community through a collaborative approach to fostering bold research initiatives, advancing national and state advocacy, and providing comprehensive care to individuals and families affected by ALS. Our staff is professional and supportive of each other, as we work together to serve ALS patients and their families.
We are currently recruiting a full-time certified Assistive Technology Professional. The Assistive Technology Specialist will actively engage with individuals and families who are registered with ALS United Greater NY for the purposes of introducing the benefits of assistive technology.
Examples of these engagements will include reviewing low- and high-tech communication solutions, alternative access to computers and phones, and Smart Home Technology, etc. The ideal candidate will also provide opportunities for on-site demonstrations, set up, and implementation of AT. For some who are not ready to utilize these options, the AT Specialist may simply introduce AT options that could be of use later.
Additional areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to the following :

Required Skills :
Current ATP certification
3 years’ experience with AT for persons with ALS, geriatrics or similar
Bachelor's degree in Rehab related field preferred
Ability to work some weekends and evenings
Valid Driver’s License
Familiarity and experience with low and high-tech Assistive Technology to address communication, computer and phone access.
Self-Motivated and able to work independently
Knowledge of PowerPoint or similar presentation software
Patience, Caring, Understanding of the implications of ALS on the human condition
