Learning Specialist

Primary Purpose of Position

The Learning Specialist will provide assistance to academically at-risk student-athletes by developing, managing, implementing and monitoring a strategic study program to include providing mentors and tutors to at-risk student-athletes or student-athletes with learning-impacting disabilities. Duties include assessing the needs of at-risk student-athletes and developing success plans. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Some experience working with student-athletes; demonstrated teaching expertise, especially utilizing a wide range of pedagogical resources; familiarity or ability to become familiar with NCAA, MEAC and NCCU rules and regulations desired; knowledge of technology based software functionality to assist students; flexible schedule including evening and weekend work as needed Minimum Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required; Master’s degree, preferable in Education (or related field) desired Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation N / A
