Posting Details (Default Section) Posting Number 9001993 Title International Advisor Position Type Full-Time Department Admissions Job Summary The position provides immigration and academic advising services, and new student orientation to meet the needs of the international student population. The position works to process applications for international students, collecting and issuing immigration documents. Additionally, the role of the advisor is to problem solve a variety of immigration issues requiring considerable knowledge of immigration rules and regulations.

Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Advise international students regarding immigration rules and regulations and serve as a main contact for questions.
  • Create, update, and manage records in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information (SEVIS) system.
  • Maintain immigration-related student files in compliance with regulations.
  • Advise students on employment preparation, timelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the international student e-mails for the institution.
  • Process international student applications, transcripts and other documents.
  • Add / drop classes for international students.
  • Organize the international student orientation.
  • Serve as an advisor for the multicultural student organization founded by international students.
  • Process change of majors, TSI scores, records maintenance and any updates or changes for international students, such as CPT and OPT
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.

Required Education Associate’s degree required Required Skills & Abilities

  • Must meet requirements for Designated School Official (DSO) determined by SEVIS
  • Knowledge of federal and state immigration-related law, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State regulations and procedures.
  • Cross cultural communication skills and knowledge of cross-cultural sensitivity; Ability to effectively work with students of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and communicate complex immigration regulations as well as Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to admissions, registration, testing, and placement.
  • Skill in using related software applications used at the institution as well as the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System database.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the institutions as well as staff and professionals at other institutions.
  • Preferred Skills & Abilities Required Experience One (1) College Admissions experience and knowledge of international student admissions Preferred Experience Posting Date 07 / 08 / 2025 Closing Date Special Instructions to Applicants Subject to criminal background check.
