The Public Safety Supervisor is responsible for supervising, leading, and directing the evening and weekend Public Safety staff within the Department of Security / Public Safety. This role encompasses personnel management, programming, and training, while ensuring the safety and security of the campus community. The position requires a proactive approach to campus safety, strong leadership skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners. The Public Safety Supervisor ensures that the department operates effectively within a 24 / 7 / 365 environment, aligning with the mission, vision, and values of Concordia College.
Position Responsibilities
Support College Mission and Competencies
Actively support and promote the mission and vision of Concordia College.
Demonstrate professional competencies expected of the position, including integrity, accountability, leadership, and collaboration.
Leadership and Supervision – As a Working Supervisor (40%)
Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of evening and weekend Public Safety staff.
Perform patrol duties and respond to campus incidents as required.
Provide situational oversight during high-traffic or high-risk periods.
Coordinate internal and external emergency response protocols and procedures.
Serve as a key contact on nights and weekends for emergency incidents, ensuring effective communication and resolution.
Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating personnel performance.
Oversee staff development, mentoring, and disciplinary actions on nights and weekends
Relationship Development (15%)
Foster and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
Act as a visible, approachable presence to the campus community, instilling confidence, trust, and open communication.
Serve as a resource for conflict resolution and safety concerns.
Compliance and Reporting (15%)
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal crime reporting requirements.
Collect, analyze, and summarize statistical data for campus crime reports and prevention initiatives.
Assist in providing timely communication of crime prevention strategies to the campus community.
Support enforcement of college policies and civil law in collaboration with appropriate authorities.
Program and Policy Development (10%)
Assist in designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive safety and security programs.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of department policies, procedures, and best practices.
External Liaison (10%)
Serve as a primary point of contact on nights and weekends with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other external partners.
Collaborate with municipal officials in addressing public safety concerns impacting Concordia College and surrounding communities.
Student Conduct and Investigations (10%)
Support investigations related to student conduct code violations.
Participate in hearings, adjudications, and follow-up procedures in collaboration with relevant college offices.
Minimum Qualifications Required Experience
Skills and Abilities :
Tolerance for ambiguity, sensitivity and orientation to be successful in a church related liberal arts institution

Salary – $52,000 – $59,000 annually
The final salary will be determined based on factors such as education, experience, skills, certifications, and alignment with the position’s requirements. Other considerations may include internal equity and market conditions.
