Overview
The Senior IT Business Analyst will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between our business needs and technology solutions, ensuring that IT initiatives align with the overall strategic objectives of the credit union. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Leads and works across all technology solutions, existing and new, work with key stakeholders to decrease complexity, manual work, and friction through elimination, automation, and knowledge transfer.
- Understands and applies principles, theories, and concepts related to business analysis to evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and help to develop solutions
- Uses interviews, document analysis, leads requirements workshops, document business process, use cases, process designs and scenarios to obtain requirements
- Analyzes business needs and documents requirements that may include specifications, workflows, processes, proposals, business cases, development plans, project plans, testing plans, implementation, training, and support.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for the business analyst discipline within the business
- Works on the most complex projects where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors; has the ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
- Work across variety of business groups, taking disparate and sometimes contradictory requirements, and through extensive collaboration and communication, arrive at solutions that will work for all stakeholders.
- Serve as an information source and communicator between business stakeholders and technology, including senior and executive leadership.
- Works with IT management and stakeholders to create project proposals and presents to steering committees as required.
- Produce reporting and analysis on technology solutions by identifying current or new metrics that baseline the ability of a system to meet business requirements and use those metrics to measure the success of implemented technology solutions packaged in an appropriate and timely manner for business consumption.
- Plan and lead design sessions. Document and maintain functional and non-functional requirements including system overviews, functional narratives, and detailed use cases
- Facilitates the implementation of functional and non-functional requirements through the lifecycle of a project, as well as seeks approval of project documentation (e.g. PRD, TDD, )
- Maintains knowledge of emerging trends and industry best practice
- Interacts with project managers, executives, managers, market participants, software developers, test coordinators, training specialists, user experience specialists, and subject matter experts to elicit and clarify business, market and project requirements
- Assesses technologies to create developmental specifications as well as detailed use and test cases
- Participates and manages completion of all cycles of testing including application development testing, system testing, regression, user acceptance, data validation, performance and stress, or other testing as required.
- Enhance the quality of technology solutions by analyzing the design of technical systems and business models, sourcing and implementing new business technology, and finding technological solutions for business requirements.
- Thorough understanding of, and experience in, software quality assurance testing processes, methodologies, and procedures
- Uses requirements to help drive the design and review of test cases
- Participates in vendor evaluation process, planning, testing, training, and implementation of new systems, and integrations.
- Read all internal publications, including HUB and Possibilities
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Accounting, MIS, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or related field is preferredCBAP Certified Business Analysis Professional (preferred)CCBA Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (preferred)Work Experience
5-8 years Progressively responsible experience in internal business and / or technical analysis is required3-5 years Experience with Financial Institutions is preferred3-5 years Experience with process engineering is preferred3-5 years Experience with various forms of documentation formats, and documentation tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, etc.) is requiredRead all internal publications, including HUB and Possibilities isKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
