Summary
This position will support the Nursing Department. Duties to include maintaining the Simulation Learning Center equipment, keeping supplies in an orderly and organized manner, cleaning used equipment, ensuring all linen is washed and stored, restocking individual nursing labs, sim rooms, exam rooms, and storage areas. May interact one-on-one with students and a high volume of customers. Will work with and assist diverse groups.
Essential Functions
1. Maintain inventory by :
Performing inventory counts.
Stocking supply areas.
Monitoring inventory and replenishing as necessary.
Maintaining the organization of the Simulation lab, exam rooms supply inventory rooms.
Assist with checking the equipment and supplies for usability (i.e. equipment in working order).
2. Assist in setting up learning environment (such as labs, classrooms, virtual simulations, etc)
3. Work on A / V projects from the Simulation Lab.
Content Brainstorming for Social Media.
Signage + Bulletin Board.
Editing Videos and Pictures for newsletter.
Browse for new Sim Technology.
4. Administrative duties (filing papers, data entry)
Making copies, filing papers, drafting signs or other documents as assigned
Running errands (i.e. picking up deliveries at the university mail center)
Conducting special projects as assigned
5. Equipment preventative maintenance
Weekly preventative maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Linen change and organization.
Tidying areas before the end of each shift.
All doors and equipment are locked as necessary.
6. Assist in the Simulation Learning Center activities by :
Providing assistance during simulation (i.e. playing the role of a family member, standardized patient, assist in video recording).
Participating in the review of instructional aids used in the Simulation laboratory by providing feedback.
Assist with tours of the Simulation Lab for prospective students or other stakeholders.
Assist 1st and 2nd Semester students with skills practice if applicable.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications / Requirements
Barry University student with 0-1 year of experience. Science, pre-nursing, or nursing major preferred.
Pushing or pulling carts or other such objects.
Lifting objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
Standing for two or more hours.
