Transmission Planning Engineer

This full-time position reports to the Manager of Engineering and System Planning and is located at the Ed Fischer Operations Center.

WHAT YOU WOULD DO :

This position is responsible for the design, analysis and optimization of Clark Public Utilities transmission systems to ensure both planning and operational reliability goals are achieved. Other engineering duties may be assigned since this position is part of a small team focused on the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of all utilities transmission, distribution, substation, material / construction standards and SCADA systems. The position may include developing project budgets, contracts, overseeing projects and working closely with customers and other departments to ensure utility goals are achieved.

Duties include but are not limited to :

• Conduct power flow, short-circuit, stability and other studies necessary to assess transmission system performance
• Maintain accurate models and create transmission plans to ensure near and short-term reliability requirements
• Performing generation, transmission and new large load interconnection requests
• Coordinate and collaborate with regional transmission entities, customers and developers
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations
• Provide technical support to Engineering and Operations

QUALIFICATIONS :

Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of experience using PowerWorld system modeling software, or similar tools. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with others, including effectively presenting information, responding to questions from other employees and customers and having effective written and oral communication skills.

SALARY :

Salary ranges are market based and established annually. Typically, selected candidates are hired at a salary rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on qualifications and experience.

Maximum : $116,256

Transmission Planning Engineer

Minimum : $92,056

Midpoint : $114,592

Maximum : $137,126

Senior Transmission Planning Engineer

Minimum : $105,196

Midpoint : $133,529

Maximum : $161,864

Consideration will be made for a Principal Engineer based on outstanding experience and qualifications .
