The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) serves as the coordinating office for externally funded research and sponsored projects at The University of Texas at Austin. The mission of the OSP is to assist faculty and professional research staff in their efforts to secure and ensure proper stewardship of external funding. We do that by assisting research faculty and staff with the following : proposal review, authorization, and submission; award negotiations and acceptance; account management; close-out, reports, audits, collection; professional development and education; export control, and research compliance.

Purpose
To assist faculty members, principal investigators, and other university research staff in the development, preparation and submission of research proposals to sponsoring agencies and organizations. Review and analyze University sponsored project proposals for compliance with sponsor, federal, state, local and university guidelines and regulations. Provide counsel and guidance for corrections when proposals do not meet criteria.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze University sponsored project proposals for compliance with sponsor, federal, state, local and university guidelines and regulations. Provide counsel and guidance for corrections when proposals do not meet criteria.
Analyze and review budgets for sponsored project proposals and contracts for accuracy and compliance with sponsor, federal, state, local and university guidelines and regulations. Provide counsel and guidance for budgetary corrections.
Troubleshoot electronic proposal and subcontract submissions that utilize internal university systems and external sponsor systems (i.e., UT Research Management System (UTRMS), Grants.gov, Research.gov, NIH eRA Commons, NASA NSPIRES, ProposalCentral, etc.).
Respond to and resolve various sponsor requests for information and assistance.
Enter and update proposal data and information in UT Research Management System (UTRMS).
Provide mentoring and training assistance to faculty, departmental, research staff and other Office of Sponsored Projects staff.
Participate in professional development and attend conferences to remain current with standard and overall UT, local, state and federal guidelines, regulations and electronic submission requirements.
Generally contributes to the efficiency and positive climate of the office.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years' experience in the preparation, processing, and submission of research grants and / or contract proposals.
Experience working with Electronic Research Administration.
Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, state, local and university sponsored project guidelines and regulations.
Demonstrated knowledge working with deadlines and under pressure and the subsequent ability to prioritize tasks.
Works on several projects with overlapping deadlines.
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree.
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential.
Over 3 years' experience in the preparation, processing, and submission of grant and contract proposals.
Experience working in a University setting.
Takes an independent, resourceful approach to workload.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Communicates effectively with variety groups.
Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and ability to meet many deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Salary Range
55,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
May work around standard office conditions

Employment Eligibility :
Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility :
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
