Job Summary

Acoustic Engineer II provides technical solutions to a variety of routine to moderately difficult problems in underwater acoustics. Capable of contributing to clearly defined technical approaches and solutions to typical engineering challenges. Uses established procedures and creativity to resolve standard issues under general supervision.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Assist in the design of underwater hydrophones projectors and / or active and passive transducers utilizing cylindrical ceramics spherical ceramics and flexural disks.
• Model simulate and test acoustic transducers in Acoustic Test Tank.
• Electrical impedance testing of piezo ceramics.
• Assist engineering with design modification of acoustic subsystems and systems for development.
• Support designs with analysis simulations and calculations using MATLAB and FEA under guidance.
• Prepare documentation for work as required for engineering and manufacturing of products.
• Conduct in-house tests under general supervision.
• Apply basic risk and failure analysis principles as required within the engineering discipline.
• Resolve basic product process and system issues; provide recommendations for enhancements and cost reductions.
• Keep accurate and complete documentation of engineering work.
• Evaluate materials and systems identify equipment or prepare work instructions for manufacturing.
• Provide support to bid and proposal activities.
• Provide communications and / or presentations to immediate team members and suppliers.
