Position Summary

As a Paramedic, you will function as a vital emergency response medical professional, delivering immediate medical care to victims of accidents, violence, and sudden illnesses such as cardiac arrests or strokes. Your role involves providing pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is handed over to the accepting medical facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the ambulance service at public events and functions, providing ambulance standby services as needed.
• Accurately document assessment and treatments in patient care charting software.
• Provide care for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises with medical, traumatic, and therapeutic interventions.
• Work effectively as part of a two-member ambulance crew to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate advanced life support equipment such as bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and electrocardiograms.
• Assess the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses to prioritize and implement medical procedures, including stabilization, immobilization, and transportation of victims.
• Respond promptly to dispatcher instructions while driving and operating emergency vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Administer medications via injection, intravenous procedures, or orally under physician direction.
• Communicate effectively with medical personnel at treatment facilities to receive treatment instructions.
• Maintain cleanliness and decontamination of the ambulance after transporting or treating infectious patients, reporting any infectious diseases as required.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift over 50 lbs, push / pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs short distances. This position requires frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
