Description : Independent Living Coordinator
Job Summary :
The Independent Living Coordinator (ILC) is responsible for promoting the activities of independent living as outlined by the Director of Campus Life. Job responsibilities include teaching and modeling skills that will prepare our youth for their future in areas such as education, employment, financial responsibility, etc. The ILC will provide services through the use of the agency’s model of care. The ILC must adhere the organization’s mission and core values, and reports directly to the Director of Campus Life.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Supervises all youth participating in the independent living program
Duties / Responsibilities :
Responsible for the coordination and implementation of Independent Living activities for the Methodist Children’s HomesResponsible for seeking out non-profit organizations and business partners that will provide volunteer opportunities and / or employment for youth in our programsResponsible for administering the Ansell Casey Life-Skills Assessment to youth upon admission and dischargeParticipates in weekly Clinical Treatment Team to provide Independent Living goals to be added to youth’s Individual Service PlanPrepares monthly ILP summaries to be included in youth filesCoordinates campus work program and evaluate each youth’s work performanceSubmit quarterly reports outlining major accomplishments and progress towards assigned goals and objectives. These reports will be presented to the Director of Campus LifeCoordinates all academic / vocational support services including but not limited to : tutoring, GED preparation, ACT / SAT pre-testing preparationEnsures the quality of services to ILP eligible youth, and assesses whether youth service needs are met in compliance with program guidelinesAssists in coordinating spring, summer and Christmas trips and programs for youthPerform all other duties assigned by the Director of Campus LifeRequirements :
Required Skills / Abilities :
Must be twenty-one (21) years of ageStrong people skillsDemonstrate organizational, management and leadership skillsHave the ability to comprehend and produce accurate program documentation, including but not limited to, youth treatment plans, progress notes, manage financial / budget tasks, and community correspondenceHave the ability to communicate professionally, in both verbal and written formats, including but not limited to, consumers, parents, supervisors, colleagues, and community correspondenceHave the ability to provide on-going visual and physical proximity supervisionHave the ability to safely drive a twelve (12) twelve passenger van to transport clientsHave the ability to drive for agency-related events during the day or nightRegular attendance at primary worksite and agency related eventsHave the ability and flexibility to work overtime as approved by Director of Campus LifeEducation and Experience :
Bachelor Degree from an accredited university or collegeAt least one (1) year of experience working with a youth populationPhysical Requirements :
Must be able to perform physical demands associated with daily operational functions including, but not limited to cooking, shopping, supplies, inventory and other tasksMust be able to participate in recreational activities with clients, including but not limited to, arts, athletics, and outdoor activities
