Position Description :
The incumbent works under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor. Initiates the Unit Admission Package and coordinates the admission process with the Admission Coordinator and nursing staff. Assist in the coordination, discharge / transfer of residents and the record maintenance process for a State Veterans' Nursing Home. Maintain accurate active medical records for the unit. Report any changes in appointment calendar and transportation for the residents. Schedules and tracks resident laboratory tests. Assists the Health Information Specialist in Medical Record maintenance for the facility including organizing records, filing, monitoring for signatures and filing / retaining monthly weights and vital signs into the clinical record keeping system. Performs functions at the nursing unit station to maintain an organized nursing environment, which include answering the telephone, record keeping and filing. Performs needed functions in the FDVA computerized record keeping system. Performs other related duties as required and may perform duties as a Certified Nursing Assistant, if certified, as required. Attend all required facility training. Performs related work as required.
