A highly respected, 100% employee-owned engineering firm is seeking a Lead Design Engineer – Transportation to play a pivotal role in advancing major transportation initiatives across Utah.
This opportunity offers strategic leadership on medium to large-scale transportation projects, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and high-level engagement with clients and stakeholders.
Lead Design Engineer Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage the design and technical delivery of complex transportation projects.
- Serve as a design authority, coordinating across disciplines to meet project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior engineers and designers.
- Interface directly with clients, agencies, and internal stakeholders to align goals and maintain project momentum.
- Apply advanced knowledge of roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and other civil engineering fundamentals to ensure successful outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to applicable standards and specifications, particularly UDOT and AASHTO guidelines.
Lead Design Engineer Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.Must have an Active Utah Professional Engineer (PE) license.Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in transportation design and / or design team leadership.Proficiency in Bentley roadway design tools (MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads, Connect).Strong knowledge of UDOT project delivery standards and design processes (preferred).Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.Lead Design Engineer Benefits :
