Who We Want : We want a Junior Accountant that will be responsible for the day-to-day responsibilities of the accounting department as directed by the Accounting Manager. The Junior Accountant will also be responsible for journal entries, accounting for daily cash transactions, supporting accounts payable, and account reconciliations.
Essential Duties :
Performs daily and monthly bank account reconciliations to ensure appropriate cash / accounting balance.Assists in the Accounts Payable Department process, including payments, accruals, reporting, and reconciliations.Works with the Senior Accountant in preparation of the year-end audit schedules and bank / warehouse confirmations.Perform entries for the daily and monthly reconciliations for the loans held for saleReconcile the daily funding and purchase interface entriesAssists with reconciling escrow and loans held for sale balance sheet accounts, and select general ledger accountsAssist with updating and maintaining department policies and proceduresParticipates in HFG internal meetings and required trainingsMaintains a professional image and demonstrates an understanding of and follows all HFG Policies and ProceduresOther duties as assignedRequirements
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredAssociates or Bachelor's Degree in related field (Accounting, Business, Finance) preferredMinimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience requiredMinimum of 1 years of relevant mortgage industry experience preferredKnowledge of GAAP and national accounting preferredKnowledge of mortgage banking regulatory requirements preferredExperience with Encompass, AMB and Paylocity preferredAbility to read, analyze, and interpret financial dataProficient PC skills to include Excel, Word, and Microsoft OutlookExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProvides strong customer service to internal and external customersAbility to develop positive relationshipsExceptional organization and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast paced environmentMust be able to implement written proceduresIndependent, self-starting, team player with a positive attitudeWorking Conditions :
