Summary
The Neighborhood Safety Council (NSC) Program Manager will coordinate and facilitate a community-based safety council in the 44th Precinct as part of NYC's Gun Violence Prevention Task Force (GVPTF). This position requires a dynamic, community-oriented professional who can build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, facilitate collaborative planning processes, and coordinate implementation of neighborhood safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and orient Neighborhood Safety Council members representing diverse sectors including residents, community organizations, faith institutions, businesses, schools, and government agencies
- Facilitate monthly NSC meetings and support bi-weekly subcommittee meetings
- Lead the development of a comprehensive Neighborhood Safety Action Plan aligned with GVPTF strategies
- Coordinate implementation of community safety projects across seven strategy areas
- Supervise Outreach Worker(s) and manage program administration
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including NYPD representatives, elected officials, and community organizations
- Manage program documentation and reporting to DYCD
- Represent the NSC at GVPTF strategy sessions and other relevant forums
- Monitor program budget and ensure fiscal compliance
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or related fieldMinimum 3 years of experience in community coalition building or similar roleDemonstrated experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and BIPOC communitiesStrong understanding of substance use prevention strategiesExperience with data collection, analysis, and reportingExcellent project management and organizational skillsProven experience in team management and staff supervision.Self-directed and solutions oriented.Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.Must pass drug screening to be appointed.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social work, community organizing, urban planning, public administration, or related field requiredMinimum three years of experience coordinating community-based initiatives, preferably related to public safety, violence prevention, or community developmentDemonstrated experience facilitating diverse stakeholder groups and building consensus around shared objectivesStrong project management skills and ability to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience working in the Bronx, particularly within the 44th Precinct, strongly preferredBilingual (English / Spanish) highly desiredFamiliarity with violence prevention frameworks and community safety approachesExperience working with diverse community stakeholders, including law enforcementKnowledge of NYC government systems and community resourcesRequired Skills / Abilities
