Location :  Columbus, Ohio (On-site)

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves working on a variety of engagements, including building, relocating, and migrating data center network infrastructure using Arista switches. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated expert with a strong background in data center networking and a passion for delivering innovative solutions to our clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Architect and design :  Lead the design and implementation of complex, scalable, and resilient data center network solutions using Arista switches within a leaf-spine architecture.
  • Network moves and migrations :  Plan and execute network changes, including datacenter migrations and physical relocations of networking equipment, to minimize disruption to live services.
  • Deployment and configuration :  Perform hands-on deployment and configuration of Arista networking gear. This includes setting up advanced routing and switching protocols like VXLAN, EVPN, and BGP.
  • Automation :  Utilize automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) and Arista's CloudVision Portal (CVP) to automate network provisioning, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Documentation :  Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including logical and physical diagrams, deployment runbooks, and test plans.
  • Client engagement :  Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) and a trusted advisor for clients, collaborating to understand their business requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Support and troubleshooting :  Provide advanced technical support for network issues, leveraging deep knowledge of network protocols and troubleshooting tools to resolve complex problems in both new and existing environments.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on data center environments.
  • In-depth, hands-on experience with Arista switches and a deep understanding of Arista's EOS.
  • Expert-level knowledge of data center networking technologies and protocols, including VXLAN, EVPN, and BGP.
  • Proficiency in network automation using Python or Ansible.
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., tcpdump, Wireshark).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Arista ACE-L3, CCIE, CCNP) are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing client needs.
  • Physical and work environment requirements

  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to network deployment, including racking switches and pulling cables.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites within the Columbus, Ohio, area.
  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours for network changes and cutovers.
