Position Overview
The Residential Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems in single-family, multi-family, and mixed-use residential environments.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring that all residential electrical work meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and code compliance. The Residential Electrician will work independently and as part of a larger electrical team that also supports commercial, industrial, data center, and maritime projects.
Under the guidance of a Journeyman Electrician and Electrical Signing Supervisor, this role also contributes to continuous learning and professional growth by mentoring apprentices and maintaining strong customer and homeowner relationships.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & Maintenance
- Install, maintain, and repair residential electrical systems, including :
Service panels, feeders, branch circuits, and grounding systems
- Lighting, receptacles, switches, and smart home automation components
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, solar interface systems, and energy storage components
- HVAC controls, low-voltage systems, and standby generator connections
- Perform service upgrades and wiring for new construction, remodels, and tenant improvements.
- Ensure all installations comply with NEC, NFPA, and local jurisdictional codes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in a timely, professional manner.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow company and OSHA safety standards at all times, including lockout / tagout, PPE use, and arc flash protection.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Report safety concerns, near misses, and incidents immediately to supervisory personnel.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
Customer Service & Communication
- Interact professionally with homeowners, property managers, and contractors to explain work, resolve concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
- Provide accurate information regarding electrical system performance, options, and maintenance.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold company values on every job site.
Documentation & Coordination
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and load calculations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of materials used, time on site, and work performed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers regarding job progress, issues, and additional work requirements.
- Coordinate work with other trades to ensure efficient project completion.
Teamwork & Mentorship
- Collaborate with Journeyman and Supervisors to plan and execute residential work scopes efficiently.
- Assist in training and mentoring apprentices on safe work practices and proper installation techniques.
- Participate in team meetings, skill development programs, and continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications
Education & Training
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training preferred.
Licensure
- Active Residential or Journeyman Electrician License (in Oregon - REQUIRED
- Ability to obtain additional licensing as required by project location.
- Valid Drivers License
- Dependable Transportation
Experience
- 3+ years of residential electrical installation and service experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with residential wiring methods, devices, and troubleshooting.
- Experience installing or maintaining smart home, EV, or renewable energy systems preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial or light industrial systems is a plus.
Certifications
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification required (OSHA 30 preferred).
- NFPA 70E Arc Flash Safety certification or training preferred.
- First Aid / CPR certification required.
