Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments of ALS patients considering disease stage weight trends respiratory function and swallowing and implement individualized nutrition care plans including recommendations for oral intake enteral feeding and and adjust nutrition plans in coordination with disease progression and patient closely with neurologists speech-language pathologists respiratory therapists nurses social workers and other healthcare providers as part of the interdisciplinary ALS education and counseling to patients and caregivers on nutrition hydration and feeding tube nutrition interventions and progress in the electronic medical record in team case conferences and contribute to care planning and clinical up to date with the latest ALS nutrition guidelines and in the development of clinic protocols and patient education clinical research data collection and quality improvement projects related to ALS nutrition as applicable.
