We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Hydropower engineer to support the planning, design, and execution of hydropower projects in Alaska . The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in hydropower systems, including design, operations, environmental compliance, and regulatory frameworks. This role will play a critical part in advising project teams, guiding feasibility studies, through engineering and ensuring the successful delivery of sustainable hydropower solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide expert guidance on the design, development, and implementation of hydropower projects (run-of-river, pumped storage, and reservoir-based).
  • Conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, and risk analyses.
  • Review and validate engineering designs, specifications, and construction plans.
  • Advise on environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams (sales, engineering, construction).
  • Support stakeholder engagement, including government agencies, utilities, and community groups.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and policy developments in hydropower energy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; or related technical field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in hydropower engineering or project development related field.
  • Proven track record of working on large-scale hydropower projects or power distribution projects.
  • Additional Qualifications :

  • In-depth knowledge of hydrological modeling, turbine technologies, dam safety, and grid integration.
  • Familiarity with international standards (e.g., FERC, IEC, ICOLD) and permitting processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience with energy storage integration and hybrid renewable systems.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, GIS, and MATLAB.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
