The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Psychologist III – Forensic Evaluator to conduct court-ordered forensic evaluations, violence risk assessments, and competency assessments for patients at Dallas State Hospital , a premier Joint Commission-accredited psychiatric facility.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct competency evaluations (46B), violence risk assessments (46C), and other forensic evaluations under Texas lawProvide expert witness testimony and consultation to courts and hospital staffCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support competency restoration and forensic programmingDevelop, oversee, and improve forensic psychological services in accordance with HHSC guidelines and legal standardsSupervise and train graduate psychology trainees or other staff as assignedMaintain documentation, write clear forensic reports, and ensure regulatory complianceSupport recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care across clinical and forensic servicesQualifications
Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited universityLicensed as a Psychologist in Texas (or reciprocity state)1+ year of supervised experience by a licensed psychologist1+ year conducting forensic evaluations and psychological assessments in an inpatient setting1+ year conducting individual and group therapy with forensic psychiatric populationsHow to Apply
