We are looking for a talented Urban Planner with 4-6 years of relevant experience to work in our San Francisco office. The ideal candidate will share our passion and values to foster resilient and equitable communities, have a strong interest in community design, embrace working on projects across the spectrum of WRT’s practice, and be able to work collaboratively with project teams.

The position requires analysis, writing, and graphics for planning projects, as well as community engagement. Projects will include district and neighborhood plans, development and design standards, plans for park and open spaces, and plans for climate resiliency, housing, and equity.

Pay Range : $85K - $100K (dependent upon education, skills, experience, skillset)

Required Qualifications and Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or landscape architecture + 6-8 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of urban planning theories and practices and urban design fundamentals
  • Proficiency in preparing planning and zoning graphics, using 3D modeling software and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in conducting GIS analysis and mapping, including data gathering
  • Strong verbal and written communication, research, and analysis skills
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Skilled in developing community engagement materials, facilitating discussions, and analyzing stakeholder feedback.
  • Ability to independently manage tasks, coordinate daily workflows, and liaise with internal teams and sub-consultants under the guidance of project managers and senior staff.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in urban planning and / or urban design + 4-6 years of relevant work experience including plan and code writing and graphics, mapping, and community engagement (preferred).
  • Advanced skills in 3D modeling and visualization software (Sketchup, Rhino, Lumion)
  • Bilingual (verbal skills) in Spanish and English.
  • Website development using software such as WordPress, Squarespace, Google sites, Wix or similar platform.
  • Compensation & Benefits Include

  • The expected pay range for this position is $85K - $100K annually, dependent upon education, skills, experience, skillset.
  • Downtown San Francisco office surrounded by amenities and a vibrant studio culture.
  • Hybrid / telecommuting work schedule. We currently work together in the office Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays are typically remote.
