Position Description

DEFINITION :

Provide classroom instruction to college students through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED :

  • Receives direct supervision and / or technical direction from the program director and department chair
  • Exercises no supervision

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS :

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :

Essential Functions :

  • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students
  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities
  • Develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons
  • Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance
  • Maintain a grade record of individual scores
  • Provide classroom demonstrations on material, technique, and various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands-on experience as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Maintain material and supply inventories for the course(s) taught
  • Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate, and timely fashion, including but not limited to class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms, and grade rosters
  • Other Important Functions :

  • Be punctual and professional
  • Support a friendly working environment
  • Work cooperatively with other faculty members to coordinate shared facility areas and supplies
  • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed
  • Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • The successful candidate will maintain and participate in the continued development of the studios and assist students during class as well as during studio / lab hours.
  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS : Knowledge of :

  • Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures
  • Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment
  • Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration
  • Ability to :

  • Interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for : Making observationsReading and writingCommunicating with othersOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which include the following : Standing or sitting for extended periods of timeOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneouslyBending, stooping, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Maintain mental capacity, which allows for : Making sound decisionsResponding to questionsDemonstrating intellectual capabilities
  • EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES :

    Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be :

    Minimum Education / Training :

  • MFA or equivalent degree in Game Design or Digital Arts or
  • MS in Computer Science
  • Minimum Experience :

  • Proficiency in one of the following skills : Game Design, 3D Modeling, Animation, coding (specifically C++)
  • Experience using Unreal Engine 5 a plus
  • Preferred Education / Training and Experience :

  • Prior experience teaching college-level courses
  • Experience working with students of culturally diverse backgrounds
