Your mission, roles and responsibilities

The role of an Injection Molding Process Engineer is to verify safety and equipment uptime and decrease quality defects to the customer. They provide support and assist maintenance through trouble shooting / problem solving methodologies to eliminate downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Work with injection molding machines and secondary equipment, on tooling issues to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain and improve part quality.
  • Work with production injection molding process technicians to reduce downtime, scrap and improve process efficiency.
  • Support the engineering change management process.
  • Update manufacturing routines and work instructions.
  • Keep processes (machines, tools, procedures) at best possible level in compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and quality, cost and delivery.

Continuous Improvement

  • Labor, quality, equipment, space, and work conditions
  • Participate in injection molding workshops.
  • Participate in continuous improvement through FES tools such as QRCI, Improvement Ideas, etc.
  • Process technician training
  • Cycle time reductions
  • Weight reductions
  • Injection machine and robot optimization
  • Plant Readiness to Launch New Programs

  • Participate in the definition of the production and selection of machines and equipment.
  • Define plant layout to support new product launches.
  • Participate in new tool designs.
  • Participate in new tool trials.
  • Support production in the start of new processes to ensure a successful SOP (initial samples, run @ rate, work instructions).
  • Establish a scientific molding process.
  • Studies / Analysis of Machines, Process and Tools

  • Capability study on all injection molding machines.
  • DOE (Design of Experimentation) on new and existing processes
  • Gate seal study on new and existing processes.
  • Your profile and competencies to succeed

    Minimum education level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferred
  • Professional Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the auto industry
  • Skills and competencies

  • Technically skilled on product and process design, such as FMEA, TAKT time, and ergonomics
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • International mindset, with the ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • English required, other languages are a plus
