Job / Department Summary :

Under general direction the Student Services Professional III performs complex Student Services professional

work characterized by independent student advisement and guidance in individual and group settings. This position will have oversight of an intentional and accountable residential life programming model which includes social recreational spiritual and educational outcomes. The incumbent works directly with and advises the UH student governance council the Chico State National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter and the UH residence hall programming board. Additionally incumbent will provide guidance in collaboration with UH staff in the development implementation and administration of policy procedures and operating principles which pertain to residential life programming student governance / advising and the residence hall programming board. Incumbent will spend substantial portions of time in advisement sessions of considerable duration will be expected use a high degree of judgment or persuasiveness imagination and professional skills to accomplish tasks.

Required Education and Experience :

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences public or business administration or a job-related field.

AND

Three years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.

• A Masters degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

Additional specialized experience which demonstrates the applicant has successfully applied the knowledge and abilities of a Student Services professional may also be substituted for required education on a year-for year basis.

Preferences :

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills :

• Masters degree in Behavioral Social Science College Student Professional Higher Education Counseling Management Public Administration Sociology or a related discipline.
• One year of full-time equivalent experience in the assigned area.
• Experience Advising a community or hall council or student group.

Pay Plan : 12 / 12

Work Schedule : Mon-Fri 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm Summer : Mon-Thurs 7 : 00am-5 : 30pm

CSU Classification Salary Range : $66480 - $94716 per year.
