Job Description

Job Title : Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse

License : Current nursing license

Certifications : BLS, EKG competency assessment required

Must-Have : Previous experience in a level 1 or 2 facility preferred; travel experience preferred; Epic experience required

Description :

Targeted patient ratios are 1 : 7.

Unit consists of 20-21 beds.

Patients require less acute care, hence the reasoning for higher patient ratios.

The setting is similar to a nursing home.

There is no telemetry monitoring or blood products.

No BiPAP if it's not long-term care.

For 48-hour contracts, overtime is paid out after 48 hours.

Nurses must complete an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment.

BLS certification is required to read and interpret strips.

Nurses must be fitted for N95 masks prior to working unless a PAPR is offered or needed.

Travelers will float as necessary, assigned a medically appropriate assignment or will support the nursing care team of the unit floated to.

Floating could include assignments in other facilities within a specified radius.

Travelers are required to work every other weekend and holiday.

There may be cancellations due to low census.

Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives.

These patients have long lengths of stay and are waiting on guardianship, placement, or insurance.

They do not meet criteria for inpatient admission or observation.

Patients require a custodial level of care and cannot be discharged for safety reasons.

The unit operates using a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs collaborate to care for groups of patients.

This model aims to divide the workload without dividing the patient care responsibilities.

The ideal candidates will possess various skills related to medical-surgical nursing.

Daily census includes adult and geriatric patients.

Additional interdisciplinary support is available on the unit.

Candidates must communicate all scheduling requests and availability upfront.

No more than 14 days of requested time off are permitted.
