Job Summary
As a Remote Sr. Profee Coder (Neurology) , you will be or applying coding expertise to outpatient accounts related to neurology procedures. This role involves maintaining high-quality ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and / or CPT coding for diagnoses and procedural occurrences, ensuring consistent accuracy with a target rate of 95% or better.
The Remote Sr. Profee Coder (Neurology) , works collaboratively with various departments, including Health Information Management (HIM) and Clinical Documentation Specialists, to ensure accurate and complete physician documentation to support proper billing and reduce denials. Additionally, the Remote Sr. Profee Coder (Neurology) , may assist in other departmental areas as needed and reports directly to the Regional Coding Manager.
Job Responsibilities :
- Assign codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures according to ICD-10-CM / PCS Official Guidelines, reviewing documentation to ensure appropriate coding.
- Abstract required information from source documentation into the electronic medical record system.
- Validate admit orders and discharge dispositions for outpatient cases.
- Work from the assigned coding queue, ensuring accounts are completed accurately and re-assigned correctly.
- Manage accounts on ABS Hold, finalizing when corrections are made in a timely manner.
- Maintain or exceed a coding accuracy rate of 95%.
- Meet or exceed designated productivity standards per chart type for outpatient general surgery.
- Follow the Standards of Ethical Coding as outlined by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
- Contribute to solutions aimed at reducing backend errors and improving coding accuracy.
- Identify and report any relevant hospital-acquired conditions (HAC) within outpatient coding.
- Expertly query providers for missing or unclear documentation, collaborating with HIM and Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists.
- Participate in both internal and external audit discussions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications :
Verifiable High school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics or Health Information Management is a plusMinimum 5 years of outpatient coding with at least 3 years’ experience coding for NeurologyActive CPC or CCS certification required. Specialty certification in General Surgery or Orthopedics is a plus.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently, particularly in a remote setting, with minimal supervision.High-speed internet on a private network is requiredWho Should Apply?
